Texas Black Gold Distillery is the conceptualization and creation of Dustin “Dotn” R. Jackson, native Houstonian, in 2016. Dustin, a sports medicine practitioner and nutritionist, was inspired to open his own distillery with the culinary objective of distilling spirits that were smooth, pleasing to the tastebuds, yet high proof. As a “mixologist” while in college in the mid-1990s, Dustin often had the task of taking whatever drinks available (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and mixing a batch that was effective yet palate pleasing. As a “gym animal,” it was also very important that the good time could not derail next day’s work out or sporting event. Using learned principles of dietetic food & hydration knowledge and combining them with a distilling process learned from distilling mentors (with a combined 122 years of experience), Dustin “Dotn” R. Jackson, founder and distiller of Texas Black Gold Distillery, LLC, became a first-generation legal distiller. Dustin’s original recipes use a traditional style of distilling with modern science and culinary technique inspired by the 100872 ideals. Permitted as a legal distiller in 2021, Dustin, “Dotn” has Texas Black Gold Distillery is clear for official “takeoff.” The product line consists of (Houston Heritage inspired) Thoroughbred Vodka, F.W. 1998 Fine Whiskey, and DOTN 112 Bourbon as the signature spirits. Southern born and raised, Dustin has an old school process with some new school techniques.
